Two weeks ago in my feature of My Old Kentucky Blog I likened the world of music blogging to the world of coffee shops, and when you visit Motel de Moka you’ll realize that there really is no better comparison.

Motel de Moka may be the most culturally diverse blog period, let alone the most culturally diverse music blog. It’s staffers hail from (in no particular order)

• Mexico
• Spain
• “Down South”
• the Netherlands
• China
• Poland
• South Africa
• the United States
• Turkey

Now as you may guess, having so many contributors from so many places makes for an interesting and eclectic mix of music that you probably otherwise never would have heard. (I once happened upon a version of The Logical Song by Supertramp in Spanish!) With a playlist for every mood of every hour of every day, the Motel is exactly what it says it is, a motel, a place where you can come and go as you please, a place welcome to anyone whether they be looking for something new or are just passing through. Since so many tastes must be appeased, I’ve come up with a little scenario detailing just what lies at the core of the Motel de Moka.

The cafe on the first floor of the Motel serves what it serves best, but it can’t just serve one flavour. Since the Motel is a way of passage, and a rest stop for people who come from all corners of the world the Motel offers various dishes each familiar to the person who will be eating it, for example an Apple Pie may look delicious and inviting to an American but unappealing to someone of a different culture. Now with so many items on the menu and so many people passing through a unique problem arises (especially in this setting), none of the patrons of the Motel cafe have the ability to order food. So the cafe does the one thing it can do, it serves up all of it’s signature dishes and leaves one on each table, as the people come and go they can look and see what looks good to them and sit down and eat it. They can even be adventurous and try new dishes either liking them or not, and when they are done they leave their regards to the chef and are on their way again.

This in essence is what Motel de Moka is. Except instead of food they serve music, and each table holding each dish is an individual blog post. You can experiment with new foods/songs or stick with what you like best. And there is the beauty of Motel de Moka, and the reason I’m awarding it 5 out of 5 bunches of grapes!
