Muzzle of Bees is a blogger’s blog in the way that Gerard Butler (King Leonidas from 300) is a man’s man. With an almost sickeningly slick theme and layout, intelligent commentary, and sidebars that function as they ought to, MOB is buzzing its way into being the best music blog around today.
MOB is technically perfect
In all my blogging travels I rarely see a blog that could actually use its sidebars to its benefit. Often they add unnecessary clutter and end up funneling the important content into the black holes that are archive pages. Ryan Matteson of MOB, however, knows how to work a sidebar: not too thick, and not too long, he’s found a balance that works perfectly for his blog.
Then again, it’s not the size that counts but how you use it.
MOB has some interesting content beyond the usual artist profiles and album reviews, one of which is the Get to Know Your Blogger series in which MOB interviews other music bloggers, sharing the wealth of free advertisement and exposure.
Another feature of MOB is 5 Questions w/MOB where MOB conducts a five-question interview with some of their favourite artists and performers.
A search function that works???
I’ve said it before, and up until this point I’ve always believed it: it is impossible for the search function to work on any blog.
It seems that Muzzle of Bees has disproved this statement. Yes ladies and gentlemen, you can see for yourselves, just go to their page and search for your favourite artist: poof, the correct results will appear! It’s utterly amazing.
MOB is an excellent all-around blog. I’ve yet to find an imperfection in it. Now, just because I’ve given it this raving review doesn’t mean that you’ll enjoy it even one bit. You’ll have to find that out for yourself, so go now and check it out as well as the past blogs in this series.
