Bows + Arrows is definitely one of the more aesthetically pleasing music blogs you’ll read any time soon. Created by Brian Lum of Davis, California, Bows + Arrows delves deeper into what its posted songs are made of than most other blogs. . .
. . . which makes it enjoyable to read after reading the standard review repeated 1000 times on all the other music blogs. Most music bloggers focus on the sound of the music, while Bows + Arrows focuses more on the words, as poetry, that the songs contain.
Visually, Bows + Arrows is as crisp and clear as they come, with a header image that many of you have probably seen while messing around in Photoshop, trying to figure out what all those buttons do. Bows + Arrows is aware of the space it inhabits and works within that space well. One thing that is missing is an easier way to view previous posts rather than having to go back month by month. The search function, powered by Google, works better than on other blogs (even if they use Google-powered search). This may be due to the relative lack of unnecessary wording compared to other blogs.
The downside to Bows + Arrows is the infrequency of posts: some months there are only one or two - which is bad if, like me, you have the obsessive compulsion to check your blogs for new posts every morning.
