Welcome to another installment of They Bring The Music To Us where I review feature talk about bring to your attention all the music blogs that bring the music to your attention. This week’s blog? 7-inch Punk.
I’m going to warn you now, 7-inch Punk ain’t your ordinary music blog. It is filled with songs so intense that they will make young ladies moan and old men weep. This ain’t your little brother’s punk, but if you’re feeling lucky you’ll find that it’s just what you needed.
As music blogs go, 7-inch is about as niche as they come, catering to the hardcore and then some. Let me be clear about this next point, this isn’t just a music blog that happens to only post about punk songs, this is a blog which has built an underground community, catering to the “punk/ska/skin/hardcore” in all of us.
What brings the community together is the fact that anyone can write up a post to 7-inch so long as the songs you are posting are from a 7-inch single. By placing the author hat on all of us 7-inch Punk makes this a blog where songs can be shared that you literally wont find anywhere else. Take a look at the category section in the side bar. When is the last time you heard some italian punk? Irish? Hungarian? Brazilian? All those 50 cent 45’s you’ve dug through the crates for are worth their weight in gold here.
The thing I like the most about 7-inch are the scans of each record sleeve that the tracks being posted came from which adds a unique touch.
Posts on 7-inch are on the shorter side, as you might imagine these are the types of people who like to get straight to the point of things, but you can find out a lot of historical information on the bands you are listening to.
I haven’t been this excited about a blog in a while, it’s almost a shame that this sort of music makes my head ache!
Bottom line:

While 7-inch Punk is caters to a niche market, it is the best at what it does. If you enjoy this sort of music this should be your second home (or at least your homepage).

[…] fantastic blog? But before I go any further I’m going to give the same warning I gave about 7-inch Punk last week: This is a niche music blog: if you have no interest in hip hop you may as well stop […]
