Welcome to another installment of They Bring The Music To Us, where I review feature talk about bring to your attention all the music blogs that bring the music to your attention. This week’s blog was recommended by Kymlee. It’s called Hip Hop Ruckus.
Listen In has been in a hip hop mood lately. Why not round it off with this fantastic blog? But before I go any further I’m going to give the same warning I gave about 7-inch Punk last week: This is a niche music blog: if you have no interest in hip hop you may as well stop reading here.
At first glance, it’s easy to write off Hip Hip Ruckus as a hokey attempt at a serious publication, with its cluttered facade and elementary header image, but pick apart each element that makes up HHR and you’ll quickly realize that this ain’t no sandbox gig. Hip Hop Ruckus does more work than most of the blogs I’ve covered and prides themselves just as much as we do here at Listen In. In fact, if Listen In had a hip hop oriented subsidiary it would be Hip Hop Ruckus.
With a staff of five columnists, HHR covers all the bases: album reviews, artist features, mp3’s, videos, interviews, you name it, HHR takes care of it. (You may be interested in reading the interview with Ray J which involves Pam Anderson and a 20,000 dollar Chinchilla coat!) While it may be true that HHR is in need of a redesign to better organize their content, at least they have content to organize. Take a good look through HHR and see what they have to offer before casting your opinion, I’m sure that you’ll find something you like.
Bottom Line
