Welcome to another installment of They Bring The Music To Us where I bring to your attention all the music blogs that bring the music to your attention. This week’s blog? I Am Fuel, You Are Friends.
Ahh! It feels refreshing to get back into the less businesslike and more personal style of music blogs that I Am Fuel, You Are Friends exemplifies. Run by Heather Browne, IAFYAF mixes light commentary on popular culture, life, and music. For the casual blog reader who isn’t too particular about the artists they listen to, this blog will do just fine (in other words, there may be some U2). IAFYAF is a blog for the lay guy or gal. If the music blog scene isn’t your thing, but you’re interested in what it’s like, this is a nice stepping stone into a whole new world.
The best part of IAFYAF is that every once in awhile a live concert is posted with every track for download as individual .mp3s and all together as a .zip file, which is about the nicest thing a music blogger can do for their readers. Putting up so many tracks is always a risky move, as it is obviously more noticeable and could potentially be prone to a legal slap on the wrist… or worse.
Criticisms
The IAFYAF layout screams, “2005!!!” A quick re-theming would add some new life and a new look into this blog.
The header text is not a link to the homepage making it difficult to navigate back to the current content after looking through the archives.
The archives are standard month-by-month, which as we all know borders on useless. A nice tagging system would be beneficial. However there are several links to the recurring features, popular posts, and concerts which is better than nothing.
Bottom Line

If you have a few trusted blogs that you rely on, I Am Fuel, You Are Friends isn’t going to add anything new - BUT if you are new to this crazy music blogging world, IAFYAF wouldn’t be a bad place to start your torrid love affair.
