Up this week on They Bring The Music To Us is Late Night Wallflower, the webzine “dedicated to alternative music and culture”.
Late Night Wallflower is a more professional operating “music blog” or webzine than your standard couple-of-college-friends-run affair. Started by a few college radio music directors, LNW has assembled a staff of regular contributors and editors.
Late Night Wallflower offers up the standard interviews, reviews, and photo sets of concerts and events that are syndicated to Flickr. However, two things caught my eye: the Band Spotlight, and 7-Inch Corner features.
In the 7-Inch Corner column, the authors take some time to talk about one or two 7-inch singles, new and old alike, that they enjoy.
My favorite part of LNW, Band Spotlight, offers a tiny writeup about a band that you need to know about, and answers these three questions: Who? What do they sound like? and Why YOU should listen.
You may read several posts before you realize that something about LNW is missing; it took me a few minutes to figure out what it was myself. Late Night Wallflower offers not a single music download link, they just point you in the direction of a bands website or myspace.
If the thought of discovering a new band without the customary two song sampler that we are all used to sounds a bit scary at least give Late Night Wallflower a try, you might not even know anything’s missing.
