TBTMTU: Indie Music Filter

October 8th, 2008 by Jacob Nicolas · No Comments

They Bring The Music To Us is back from hiatus, and we’re kicking things off with Indie Music Filter.indiemusicfilter.jpg

Indie Music Filter is an MP3 blog in the style of the old ones, simple, short and sweet posts dominate the single column blog. Often the posts are so short that they serve as a mere mention of a band with a song thrown in for good measure and little significant information or personal feeling about the band. IMF covers several festivals and concerts and has a sidebar full of countdowns to upcoming shows. As the name suggests, IMF focuses on the indiest of indie pop and rock. You can listen to what IMF sounds like by clicking on the IMF Playlist on the right.

The layout of IMF feels a bit squished to the left, and might do a little better by filling some of that white space, and, at least as I’m writing this, all of the links to recent posts incorrectly go to the same page.

There is a mobile version of the site, so browsing on your smartphones is that much easier.

One thing that’s cool about IMF, which I haven’t seen before, is the DropBox, “send me your track” link, which lets readers easily send audio files to IMF, reversing the role of music sharer and listener.

Personally I’d like to see a little more in each post on IMF before I’d declare it a must read/listen MP3 blog, but it does do the job of sharing music you may have not otherwise heard, and it does it well.

Visit Indie Music Filter and see for yourself.
