Listen In is a daily-updated music publication conceived in November 2007 by a group of like-minded columnists at Newsvine.com. Every weekday, we publish updates to different ongoing series, as well as occasional miniseries and plenty of one-offs. Articles by Listen In contributors are featured regularly on MSNBC.com. To keep track of our album reviews, news commentary, and other original content, subscribe to the Listen In RSS feed, or just check back regularly. Listen In: Get music here.

Jon is a political science student at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. He loves hip-hop, is a libertarian, enjoys learning about religion, yet won’t submit himself to any ‘god’. He will, however, teach you the finer points of smoking, stay for tequila (PatrĂ³n please), and vibe to a good beat. A writer on Newsvine since January ‘06, he has expanded his writing to the school paper and wonderful (*cough*) university essays.

Brandon Kiser is a high school student who plans to go to college and major in either, history, teaching, or journalism. His music interests are more mainstream and more likely to be heard on the radio, but the sheer expanse of the genres he is interested in makes up for it. Just as fascinated with music news as he is with music, news is his niche on Listen In.
He resides in a rural Kentucky town, so he must chew ‘bacco, hunt from sun up to sun down, milk his own cow for his morning cereal and play fiddle when the sun sets, but don’t tell anyone. Writing is still his passion.
“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.”
